"Lent begins with Ash
Wednesday, February 22. Our worship service, with ashes,
will begin at 7:00. The forty-day Lenten season is devoted
to the contemplation of discipleship, following Jesus on
the road through life. Many people give up something for
Lent. Others take on something additional in the way of
service. Lent is also a time for special worship services.
Ours will be held each Thursday evening through Lent at
7:00. A soup supper preceeds each of these services, and
all are welcome."
Back by request, Pursuit of the Paranormal. This
short course from the Institute of Lutheran Theology will
be offered free, starting March 13th at 7:00. It is considered
among the top ten of ILT’s Word @ Work courses, courses
not only for pastors, but for everyone. It will explore
many facets of our culture’s fascination with things paranormal.
What does this phenomenon say about a hunger for spiritual
things in a materialistic world? What does the Bible say
about all this? The course will be free for members and
friends of the church. Place: the planetarium conference
room.
Our small groups keep going strong, and there is a place
for you! Men's group, women's group, youth group, Sunday School,
Choir, Praise Band, adult class, Bible Alive… all these are
open to you. At St. Matthew Lutheran Church you will find
many opportunities to learn, to serve, and to be among friends
who share your faith.
The Praise Band continues to rehearse and to grow! Would
you like to join us?
The Annual Meeting of the Congregation is history. St. Matthew
Lutheran Church ended 2011strong, and 2012 holds promise for
more wonderful blessings from God.
