An Invitation

From the Pastor:

I want to extend you an invitation. Whether your experience is one of life-long involvement in a church, or whether you have never been involved at all, join us for worship some Sunday, soon.

We worship together each week, because it has always been the work of believers to give thanks and praise to God in a public way. We also draw strength from the experience. In a busy world it can become very easy for any of us simply not to take time for church. The fact that we do take the time says something about the value of worship in the congregation.

We are a congregation of people with more differences than you will find in any other organization. Every Sunday you will find among us people of all ages; of different incomes and levels of education; of different colors; single, married, widowed, divorced; liberals and conservatives. Someone brings us all together, Jesus Christ.

We believe that Jesus Christ was sent by God to remove the dividing walls that separate people from God and from one another. Those walls came crashing down when Jesus died for us on a cross, and when God raised him to life againon the third day.

Jesus sent his followers to make disciplesof the whole world, to baptize them into new life, and to establish the church. Transforming lives is what we are all about. That's what is happening at St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

If you do not have a church to consideryour own, I hope you will visit us. You will probably find someone here you already know; and you are sure to meet new friends who will welcome you. Be our guest. You will appreciate why Matthew the tax collector "...rose and followed him."
